Is No Man's Sky Multiplayer Needed ★ Community Spotlight!

  1. Tyler Thunder: Good vid I think its fine they added it they can pretty much add anything to this game and atleast its optional
  2. Christopher: I love this Game 😇👏👍
  3. Dave Wilson: Exactly all those thoughts! Great video, love the community spotlight! Here's a few of my thoughts, hopefully clearer than they were on Twitter...Sorry for the massive word count. hehe 1. I don't think there should be different, separate modes for Multiplayer. I think Multiplayer should be pervasive through all current game modes. 2. Have PVP be a per-session toggle set prior to loading your save game. 3. Have the current Join Random Game be Opt-In by default, as opposed to Opt-out. 4. Keep the current method of joining a friend's game as well as most of the current Multiplayer options... By not having different game modes PVP and non-PVP players can still interact with each other for trade or adventuring purposes. By having PVP be a per-session toggle, you can play your game in a nice chilled out PVE mode without fear of dealing with some jerk who wants to destroy you, or, if you've had a bad day, you can load up full PVP and go lay waste to your enemies...All without having to start a completely new save just for those aspects of gameplay. I seriously don't understand why so many people are so okay with having 745 different save games for different modes and styles of gameplay. I think it's just because it's what they're used to. It doesn't have to be that way. Additionally, and this will never happen now because it would enrage people, I would have loved to have seen a thing where you had to actually find and build technology for your suit, ship or freighter that would enable multiplayer features to a greater and greater feature set as you found upgrades and progressed through the game. Like, initially you'd only be able to find other players within your current system, then you could get an upgrade that would extend your range to a few hundred light years but you could only tell *IF* there was another player around, you couldn't actually communicate with them, until another upgrade where your range is extended further and communications become possible but you can't pinpoint where the other player is until a further upgrade is acquired...And so on and so on with obvious loads of refinements to make it work well...And I'm sure loads of people would have other ideas...But I mean, why not make acquiring multiplayer abilities be part of the gameplay? I think that would be cool! I dunno, maybe I'm delusional...
  4. davelanger: NMS just needs to take a page from ED and how they do MP. First off no drop in MP since that breaks the game. But have single player mode where its just you. Have a mode where you can play with just your friends, then have OPEN mode where its everyone.
  5. Legacy Zero: Geeky Pikachu challenged me!
  6. josh davis: First time watching your content, I loved it! I think adding more multiplayer is fine, I just hope it’s the last of their to-do list. There are so many other cool possibilities they could be working on to make the game all that much more entertaining.
  7. THTDI Inc: Great video buddy and nice discussion. Also I wanted to mention that photo of the cold planet near the end of the video is not current build, no way. That looks like Atlas Rises or Pathfinder textures and the clouds are a giveaway. You get a lot of people posting old screenshots claiming it's current build.lol
  8. Ivano Forgione: I'd love for it to grow and stay totally optional! I hope they let us join in squads up to 16 people and still let us see others as orbs from other dimensions, maybe up to 48 of them - and I really hope they develop more around exocrafts races, and institutionalize player hubs and cartography making these more in game experiences than (awesome) community efforts
  9. ralph: Good video
  10. No Mans Sky Adventures: Hi... New subscriber. One of my viewers mentioned you. Suprised I haven't come across your vids before. Like what I am seeing. Good question on Multi-player. I kind of like it, kind of don't... doesn't really work for exploration as you want to discover things and name them without someone else. And those that join my game tend to lower my rank by shooting local frieghters and I end up kicking them... I kind of wish there was more of a community aspect. More the galactic atlas, working together to help the atlas or something...
  11. Legacy Zero: Welcomeeee!
  12. Cobra TV: +Legacy Zero he is going to destroy you lol. But I hope you finish him! Let me know when and we will do it
  13. Legacy Zero: Thanks! And I agree. I want ALL the things in the game though, so maybe I'm crazy lol
  14. Peaceful Gamer: What I hope happens when MP gets expanded (ie full player models for all 16 players, etc.), is that the MP setting get set by default to preserve the "solo vibe" of the NMS experience with options for people to turn on more MP settings especially the ability for people to just randomly drop into your game. Sound familiar, LZ? ;) This way players who want to have that genuine "First Encounter" with another player don't have it ruined by some rando. In my view, more ways for people to play NMS is always a good thing. What bothers me is other people trying to dictate what experience NMS should be for everyone especially when many on Xbox got NMS **BECAUSE OF** the MP component being added. I play Solo mostly as well so I simply adjust my settings to have the MP experience that I want to have. You don't want it? Change your settings. Seems simple enough.
  15. Cobra TV: Galactic Thunderdome!!!!!! Great video man!
  16. Aurenian: I generally prefer to play alone. It's nice and chill and you can let the game come to you at your own pace. That said I think it is good to team up with a friend once in a while, and the current multiplayer allows that. I think the overall game could be improved by having some medium ships. Millenium Falcon/Serenity sized ships that can be crewed by multiple people. That way you could explore with friends without having to have them follow your ship around. You'd just bring them along for the ride. And they can help you fight in space in a fun way by crewing the turrets. Also you could have beds that can be built on bases, freighters, and medium ships that basically act as a spawn point for friends that want to join you. That way they don't have to fly to you every time if they have connection issues or a bad run of deaths etc. I think PvP would be best done as part of the community events rather than just jumping into some randos game and attacking them. Have a portal code that Polo hands out that takes you to a set system which exists outside of the normal dimension. It can be a semi hand crafted system that Hello Games create specially for the event. There can be enemies and resources there that don't exist in the normal game. And that is where you can fight all the peoples as well as NPCs. They could have quicksilver awards for the most effective fighters on land and in space as well as a best overall that did both in addition to their other quest based rewards. If you enter that system, it is understood that you can be attacked. Also they could host other events that are even more PvP than that. A portal code that takes you to a huge space battle between two sides. A single hostile planet with lost ruins crawling with gribblies and hostile players, A system wide conflict where players fight over certain bases and freighters. The possibilities are endless. And you could continue to have events that are more laid back for people that don't want that, or don't want it all the time. Lastly I think you should have an in-game way to change your game type. Mostly because restarting is a pain, and different friends might be in different modes. Maybe get a recipe for a Dimensional Key as part of a quest. You build it and install it into either a small ship or freighter. When activated it gives you a selection of different game modes as well as a "are you sure" button and then does a warp loading screen. When the loading screen is done you arrive in a random position in the new game type, with a selection of components damaged. In the background the game saves all your old bases and discoveries and changes the save type to the new game type, but you have to "go back" with another Dimensional Key to access them. Wouldn't work for permadeath, and any specific achievements on the harder modes would be void if you start on a different mode.
  17. TheDers69: I feel it should be kinda like a GTA style but obviously bigger. Instead of orbs representing players, you see their player models or their avatars. When you come across each other, you can do whatever you want together. Make the Galaxy a giant lobby where you might be able to come across someone and also make places like the galactic hub, actual civilizations of players in the universe. It would be awesome if you ask me.
  18. Tyler Thunder: +Legacy Zero I want them all too 😊
  19. Xx Raiden xX: I'm theBiggest_Bois. I did mess with the perspective to showcase how big I want sea creatures to be.
  20. Legacy Zero: Oh fair enough lol. Good of you to clear that up. I might have misread too. Either way, great photo!
  21. PAUL1576: Multiplayer is just not part of the game. It does need npcs though. It's Skyrim in space but with multiple worlds. It's a unique game for a unique type of gameplayer. I suppose PvP on one planet with shooting eyc but that's just a game mode not the game.
  22. Chris Millard: I was more into the solo experience, but that’s still possible, just have the option to have a friend or three drop by and say hello. Doesn’t make the game any worse by having it, also a LOT of people wanted it. Win win.
  23. Swagbastian: Why not.
  24. The Ignorant Philosopher: Is MP needed? Certainly not. Is MP desirable? Certainly. The things is, with games like this, however vast this virtual universe may be, sooner or later you're gonna get tired of playing by yourself, but proper MP changes the experience entirely.
